CHRISTMAS IN CHINA

CHRISTMAS IN CHINA

Dear readers, allow us, SBE team to say Merry Christmas! Feliz Navidad! May the joy and peace of Christmas will always be in our heart, not only on Christmas day, but all the days of our life…

When we are talking about Christmas, yes, it’s the most wonderful time of the year. The celebration, the decoration, the family gathering, the snow, the lights or the sales (lol!) make us feel “It’s Christmas, Baby!”. Okay, okay, so what about Christmas in China?

祝你圣诞节快乐!(zhu ni sheng dan jie kuai le)

It’s the way how you say “Merry Christmas” in Chinese.

You ask me, how is Christmas in China? I answer you, it doesn’t feel Christmas. It’s just like the usual days. If other countries have long holiday, then China doesn’t have Christmas holiday.

We just talked about the holiday. Then, how about the decoration? Well, it’s not that massive or extravagance like other countries or places, let’s say Hong Kong, though Hong Kong is near China, but the Christmas festivities there can be felt. Except Shanghai and Beijing, the Christmas atmosphere in other places in China couldn’t be really felt. This year, Shanghai had a flee market, just like those places in European countries, but well, it was not that beautiful.

Well, you can find Christmas songs inside restaurants or shopping malls at least… Santa Claus, Christmas tree, Christmas lights can also be found, but not as beautiful like other places.

How about the sales, I mean the discount! Have you ever heard that Chinese people are smart and clever in doing business? Of course the Christmas sales are quite extravagant here in China. Not only the stores, but also restaurants, they also make Christmas special dinner  or events.

Overall, during my 3 and half years living in China, I’ve never really felt that Christmas atmosphere in China. Christmas day is the same like other days, moreover I heard from my friend that for some students, they usually have exams on Christmas week or even on the Christmas Eve. Life in China is tough, guys!

Once again, Merry Christmas all :)
